Urbanising Deltas of the World
Urbanising Deltas of the World (UDW) aims to contribute to global water safety and food security, and to sustainable economic development in river deltas worldwide. Its goal is to come to effective and efficient responses to meet the challenges associated with climate change, population growth and increasing economic activities in these regions.
The programme is a joint activity of the NWO themes Connecting Sustainable Cities (VerDus) and Water and Climate. The programme is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment and the NWO divisions Earth and Life Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, Technology Foundation STW and WOTRO Science for Global Development. The programme also receives strategic support from the Netherlands Water Partnership and the Knowledge for Climate programme.
